The Six Degrees of Separation

So, I was thinking about facebook and why it amazes me so.  (If you know me you know I like to figure things out and will never give up figuring out a challenge.)  Why does it work?  Well, an amazing programmer/s.  People that want to connect in a more professional way than myspace.  I'm not putting down myspace, I have one myself, but as a parent it does scare me a little.  It works by the SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION!  I had a light bulb moment!  They connect you to this person who knows this person, who knows that other person!  It's not about what you know, but who you know!  This led me to one of my favorite films of all time!  "My Date With Drew"!  I love Drew too, but Brian in the film uses the six degrees of separation to try to meet Drew.   We use this movie for class in our school to teach about never giving up, going for your dreams no matter what, helping others out with their dreams etc.  I HIGHLY recommend it!

Photo Shoot /Editing and Competition

I am heading off to California to visit my great friend, graffic artist, photograpther extraordinaire Alison next week.  I haven't been to to visit her and my clients there since we opened the school, which was 6 1/2 months ago.  I was happy to hear I was missed by my clients, but better yet, Alison and I will be editing the pictures we took at the beginning of October for my and my staff's NAHA entries.  To keep the pictures and the previews of them unwraps is hard for me, but as it is a VERY competetive thing-NAHA and I do have a few people who look at my blog that are judges, I won't be posting any of them until after judging and we receive (I am using THE SECRET here) our nominationS in the middle of April 09.  I do get to go to the beach while in San Diego, my soul really needs that!  Also we will probably refine our clothing line that has our logo on it.  Our competition in town has chosen jackets just like ours and put their logo on them, so time to expand and change it up a bit.  But good for them for updating after 40 years!  I love that about competition, it makes you step up or get out!

Emotion Bowl

Our students got to go style hair at the tailgate party and football game in town fittingly named the "emotion bowl".  USA Today cited Idaho Falls High and Skyline High in Idaho Falls as one of the top 10 high school rivalries in the United States.  We were Idaho Falls High School's side that night.  It was COLD, but we had fun!

I have a FACEBOOK profile now.  Tyler has had his for a little bit and I thought, "I don't need one more thing to have to check and keep up on" as I need to give more time to this blog as is, but I have to say I am really enjoying facebook!  It is very innovative the way they link you to others who who should know and you would want to connect or reconnect with.  It a very worthwhile marketing and connection tool!
